For some reason, my life’s journey has been unpredictable, filled with surprises I never anticipated. At its core, my path has been defined by leadership and service. It all began in primary school when I took on my first official role as a sectional leader in Primary 6. A highlight from that period was standing out as the top candidate in a quiz competition between all sections. That day remains one of my happiest memories, as my unmatched delivery earned me significant recognition and admiration.
In junior high school, I served as the Protocol Prefect, continuing my journey in leadership. When I transitioned to senior high school (SHS), I had no intention of vying for any significant leadership position. At most, I thought I might consider a role as a house prefect. However, life surprised me again—I ended up being elected as the Assistant School Prefect. This was a groundbreaking achievement, as I became one of the first School Prefects from both my house (House 4) and my area of study (General Arts). Traditionally, this position had been dominated by Business students or students from Houses 3 and 2. It was a surreal moment in my life, and the entire process felt incredibly special.
To this day, I encounter former year group mates and juniors who look at me with admiration, and I believe I served them well. I have always held the belief that leadership should never be about bullying or exerting unnecessary authority.
After SHS, my leadership journey continued at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), where I served as the Deputy Speaker for the Business Students Association. Later, I became the President of the Trinity United Church Youth Fellowship, a generational group within my church. Once again, I made history as one of the youngest presidents in the group’s history.
Reflecting on my journey, I see myself as a servant leader—someone who seeks to provide solutions and serve people wholeheartedly. Interestingly, I never actively pursued these leadership roles. Instead, the people around me recognized my potential and encouraged me to step forward. I hope that this light of leadership within me never fades.
